86% of People Pay For Data They DO NOT Use

GD Tech Nerds!

Here’s a depressing thought: 86% of people pay for data they don’t use, and most of them are with big carriers and phone networks (if you’re in the UK).

The big boys lure you in with extras and goodies, then gut you on expensive monthly plans for data you don’t even use.

I switched to an MVNO three years ago, I use Mint Mobile – the $20 plan. When I’m in the UK, I’m with SMARTY; its £15 plan is legendary.

I don’t use unlimited data and I never go over my data allowance, and I use my phone A LOT…

Wanna save some cash and make the switch yourself? Here’s our recommendations for right now.

UNITED STATES: DUMP THE CONTRACTS, KEEP THE DATA

🥈 Mint Mobile 20GB Plan – $/mo

20GB of data plus 20GB of hotspot? Not bad at all for mid-tier users. Honestly, unless you’re watching 4K YouTube all day, you probably won’t burn through it.

🥉 Mint Mobile 15GB Plan – Budget Sweet Spot

Perfect for light users or anyone rockin' WiFi most of the day. 15GB + 5GB hotspot. Enough for maps, music, and memes.

🧨 Visible+ Pro – Maxed Out Beast Mode

No throttling. Premium 5G. 4K streaming. The works. Verizon’s top-tier data experience, fully uncaged.

🔥 Visible+ Plan – Unlimited For $20? WUT.

Unlimited data for $20/month (use code SAVE5), and that rate’s locked for a year. Tell Verizon to kiss it.

UNITED KINGDOM: PAY LESS, STREAM MORE

🔓 SMARTY Unlimited – No Nonsense, No Lock-in

Unlimited everything, no contracts, and £15 a month. A rolling plan that doesn’t roll you over.

💰 GiffGaff 200GB – The New Sweet Spot

200GB is basically unlimited for most of us. £20/mo and no contracts? Wild value.

💸 iD Mobile – Cashback, Unlimited, No BS

12-month deal with unlimited everything and £42 cashback? Yeah, that’s 3 months free, basically.

🌍 VOXI Unlimited – Your EU Data Passport

Unlimited data, EU roaming, and no speed caps. Perfect for digital nomads or travel junkies.
🔗 Roam free →

Next week, finger's crossed, we'll be launching our community reviews section on the site, where you'll be able to post your own reviews of the phones and tech you're using.

We're just working out the details now, but it should be super cool. Think TrustPilot, minus the Karens and for phones and peripherals like headphones and whatnot.

The submission form is now live for reviews, so you can start adding content here.

Peace.

GD Nerds, The internet is chock-full of influencers. Most are shills that sell crap to people further down the chain than them. Or prostitute themselves to brands for money. The worst kind, though, tend to deal in information or “specialist knowledge” that only they possess, and most of the time they’re completely full of shit. Whether they’re standing next to Lambos or taking selfies inside “their” private jet (that never seems to be flying), this special class of influencer is known as a...

GD Nerds! It's Sunday, the day of rest. Or, if you're in the UK like me: the day before yet another half-term with two kids under the age of six. From now on, we'll be doing our Sunday Round-Up where we share all the most popular posts and content from the previous week. It's been a busy one too, so there's plenty of stuff to get stuck into including why you shouldn't use AI to write your book, CRMs for creators, and why we moved 100% of our email operations to Kit. Here's all the big hitters...

GM Nerds! One of Reddit's co-founders has come out and said what most of us have been thinking for a while now: much of the internet is dead; the bots have taken over and now outnumber actual humans. Bots have always been an issue online, but AI has made the situation 10x worse. You can now deep fake anyone, including their voice, with nothing more than a few prompts and a basic understanding of video editing.
